Have you ever wanted to reduce (or eliminate) sugar from your diet, but are worried you won’t be able to stick to it? Or perhaps you would like to find a healthier alternative that will be just as delicious and hit the spot?
I’ve been there. I absolutely love sweets, and the idea of eliminating them seems like a very sad existence to me.
So when I decided to do a detox, I knew I would have to eliminate sugar completely. I was ok with that because it wouldn’t be forever of course, but I knew I would miss it nonetheless.
Well, it turns out that during the detox I was introduced to the most wonderful, natural sweet substitute ever, and I had no idea how delicious it would turn out to be! I’m talking about date paste!
I made it in minutes, and was able to add it to everything from smoothies, chia seed pudding, oatmeal, to sweeten dressings… you name it! I even used it as a dip for a snack, dipping bananas in it. It was heaven!
Note: I used the Instant Pot for this recipe, so if you don’t have a pressure cooker, you should be able to achieve the same results by cooking the dates on the stove top for at least 30 minutes (or until the dates are tender).
Ingredients
- 20 pitted organic medjool dates
- 2 cups of water (enough to cover dates)
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Put water and pitted dates in instant pot. Close lid.
Step 2
Push Manual or Pressure Cook, and select 2 minutes.
Step 3
Once cooked, release pressure and use an immersion blender to make a paste.
You may also transfer the dates and water to a blender and blend it on high until fully combined.
Store it in an air-tight jar in the fridge and use it as needed. It will last for weeks!
You may also freeze half of it to use at a later date.
I figured I had to let you all in on this amazing treat because life is so much better on the sweeter side!
The recipe made lots so I froze half of it, and it worked well afterwards.
Try it, you won’t regret it!
Much love,
Angélica Renée
